Saturday Aug 3 see Grace Kim's TED talk on Cohousing. Kim is a nationally recognized architect, discusses how living in an intentional community enhances quality of life, happiness and longevity. How socially connected we feel to the people around us (or how isolated we feel) is often the result of the homes we live in. Grace shares a community design idea that reflects an age-old antidote to isolation: living where people choose to share resources with their neighbors, get to know them, and look after them. It’s a combination of private homes and common space into a village-like community that originated in Denmark in the last half-century, but has successfully migrated to the United States, where it’s called cohousing.
